Grand Master Yang's Green Satchel Commentaries

Kun Ren Yi Wen Qu from the Head;

Gen Bing Xin, Every one is Lian Zheng;

Xun Geng Gui, all are Wu Qu postions;

Qian Jia Ding Tan Lang comes all the way.

Commentaries:
Kun Ren Yi also referred to its double mountain of Shen Zi and Chen. Wen Qu (Literary Arts) is water element, thus referring to water frame structure of the 4 major water mouths, with birth at Kun Shen, prosperous at Ren Zi and Grave at Yi Chen. Gen Bing Xin also referred to its double mountain of Yin Wu and Xu. Lian Zheng (Chastity) is fire element, thus referring to fire frame structure of the 4 major water mouths, with birth at Gen Yin, prosperous at Bing Wu and Grave at Xin Xu. Xun Geng Gui also referred to its double mountain of Si You and Chou. Wu Qu (Military Arts) is metal element, thus referring to metal frame structure of the 4 major water mouths, with birth at Xun Si, prosperous at Geng You and Grave at Gui Chou. Qian Jia Ding also referred to its double mountain of Hai, Mao and Wei. Tan Lang (Greedy Wolf) is wood element, thus referring to wood frame structure of the 4 major water mouth, with birth at Qian Hai, prosperous at Jia Mao and Grave at Ding Wei. These verses established the water structure to be met in accordance to the principle of 3 separations and 3 harmonies of the bright halls. These structures are used to establish facing. The real test is when these principles is to be applied in the Luopan.

Left-turning as Yang, from Zi and Chou to Xu and Hai;

Right-truning as Yin, from Wu and Si to Shen and Wei.

Female and Male, to marry in Xuan Kong;

Male and Female, to find in Xuan Kong Gua.

Commentaries:
This 2nd verses established how the assignment of the 12 stages of growth and weakening Qi are to be positioned. Mountain Ranges are Yang Dragon (Male). It takes a clockwise reading of the 24 mountain from the Luopan from Zi mountain to Chou mountain and subsequently all the way to Xu mountain and Hai mountain. This is corresponds to the Yang aspect of measuring the sequence of the sun paths through the rotation of the earth. The reverse is applied to Yin Water (Female), taking anticlockwise from reading of the 24 mountain from the Luopan from Wu mountain to Si mountain and subsequently all the way to Shen mountain and Wei mountain. The water always follow the mountain range, thus liken to the wife following the husband. The Burial Classic dictated that, follow the range to its terminus, meaning when the dragon stops, water will find its way to blend in. The canopy will be opened up with embraces on both sides and bright hall emerged at the front boundary by the table mountain. This is where the external Qi (Dragon) meets the Internal Qi (Water) resulting in the intercourses of Yin and Yang, the basis for the birth of Shen Qi. This point of birth is the Mysterious Subtleties. The intercourses are to be found at the spot of Mysterious Subtleties. These seeds of birth may be referred to water and fire. In this case the sun, allowing only with the existence of the sun, Fengshui could be carried out, with it absent, it must be abstained.

Mountain and Water, one must understand the theory;

Water and Mountain,

concerns in-auspiciousness with auspiciousness.

To understand Xuan Kong, everything is within the 5 Elements;

knowing these methods, no need to find Na-Jia.

Commentaries:
The third verse established the precedent that water and mountain formulas cannot be applied as a stand-alone technique. These techniques need to be understood. Meanings the elements of the mountain dragon that comes must match with the element of the spot confines by the same element of the water frame as an entirety, not separated, to facilitate the smooth flow of Qi. When this principle, often regarded as pure yin pure yang principle is achieved, then auspiciousness will be harnessed, otherwise inauspiciousness may arise. The foundation of these mysterious subtleties is within these 5 elements. Understanding the applications of these, one may not necessary to receive the stems from the eight directions, meaning the 8 directions may not necessary confined to an element per se, but the entirety of the 5 elements existed in every 8 directions.

Dian dian dao, 24 Mountains have Treasure;

Dao dao dian, 24 Mountains have Fire Pit.

The Golden Dragon,

Longitude and Latitude even though come with different meaning,

Does it move or does it not move,

all depend on the Master of Fengshui to apply.

Commentaries:
In the reverse order, all the 24 mountains have auspicious spot and inauspicious spots. The question is where? The exact points of the 12 earthly branches mountains contained the death and emptiness line, the ultimate fire pit. The remaining sub sectors are usable dependable on the incoming Qi element that was brought in by the mountain (Golden Dragon), all entirely depends on the common objectives that were sought after, referring to the subject of burial’s Nayin. If the elements are compatible, it is the treasure otherwise the fire pit, rest upon the skill of the practitioner in applying such principle.

Oral Transmission of Knowledge

Oral transmission of knowledge (known also as the oral tradition) has been in existence since time immemorial. In the Indian civilization, to be accurately put, the Vedas tradition, oral traditions of the holy scriptures into verses, songs and chants are very common to an extend that it is blend into a compositions of bodily language of dances and yoga positions, make known only to upper strata of societies of Bhramin and Kastriya. These sanctities of knowledge is to be upheld with dignities and must not be tainted at all cost. When these verses of the Vedas were put into writing, it was again fully encrypted that only accessible by the trained Bhramin.

The Buddhist traditions sharing the same continent of existence with the Hindu, shares the same similarities. The teachings of the Buddha were remained in the oral transmission prior to the 3rd Shangha (Monks) Council held 300 odd years after passing of the Buddha (PariNibbana), in Sri Lanka (Part of India) by the patronage of King Asoka. During the first council, the entire teachings were recited by weeks if not months by a huge retinue of monks from the various corners of the continent in chants. Most of it started with the phrase “Evam Me Suttam” (Thus have I heard…) as recollected by Arahat Ananda. Similar encounters happened to the second council. A small group of Dhamma Duta (Ambassador of the Buddha’s teaching) were sent Northward into the Himalayas of Tibetan Regions, thus establishing the Northern traditions of Mahayana. These groups are more advanced, as they had already put into writing the oral teaching. The Buddhist inherited this oral transmission. Further evolution of such practices is notable in the Japanese and Korean Zen traditions.

Dao is more pertinent in such manner as the opening statement of LaoTze in the DaoDeChing dictates the Dao, which is expressed, is not the eternal Dao. It is a fact that the entire Chinese frame of mind is a composition of the trinity of Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism. These roots had again been manifested in the Chinese 5 arts and Metaphysics is one of them. Therefore how could it be devoid of the oral traditions? Refusing such a fact means starting it all over again, tabula – rasa. Classical Chinese Metaphysics are vested in such a tradition. It would have been called New Age Metaphysics if the latter is the order of the day. My concerns are if the any Academy of Chinese Metaphysics refused to acknowledge thus, it will be a pity of its founder in championing the course of demystifying Chinese Metaphysics from object placement to apparel adornment in the name of Fengshui is nothing but a hypocrite.

Case Study of The Water Mouth - Part 2

1st principle, enter mountain look for water mouth, WM at Xun/Si (Extinct), Water Frame Structure of Shen, Zi, Chen (Kun, Ren Yi). Left turning, having incoming water from Kun/Shen (Birth) and Geng/You (Bath), meets at bright hall towards the right side of the Semi D. Water conforms to the 4 Major water mouth stucture, with proper incoming (military arts) and exit (rewards). The quality of the bright hall is slightly off, lack of bracing with a bunglow that acted as the table mountain, leaking QI.

2nd principle, establishing facing, siting Ding Chou (Water), facing double mountain Ding/Wei (nurture), also correspond to the water structure. Could not established the spot and the incoming dragon. Assuming it is conform to the dragon and water principle, with the water sitting in the water frame structure, the house is able to tap into the water frame QI.

However, this house sits on a water structure with water exiting to Xun Si direction which is good. The incoming Kun Shen water is actually a good water, however, it's hitting directly into the Ren Zi sector of the External Ming Tang which happens to be a prosperous sector. 2004 Shen year activated the San He, Shen Zi Chen, and caused financial problem to the previous owner with Shen YOB.

Furthermore, the health problem of the present owner was also due to the Kun Shen water hitting the Ren Zi sector of the External Ming Tang. Ren Zi is part of Kan Gua. Cervical cord and urinary track are both of water element and can be considered as part of Kan Gua. Hence, we can expect problem relating to Kan Gua at certain point in time. According to a Yi Jing book by a famous Taiwanese master, both neck and kidney can be considered as part of Xu DiZhi. 2006 was Xu year while Sep'06 was Xu month and Nov'06 was Zi month. Pls remember that there was an extra 7th month in 2007. Hence, Sep'06 activated the neck problem while Nov'06 activated the renal problem.

Xuan Kong answer will be in installation 3...

Case Study of The Water Mouth - Part 1

My fellow Feng Shui pal from the SanHe school has posted the following question: -

This one is a double-storey semi-detached house with gardens in front, on the left-hand side and at the back.

1. Facing Wei and sitting Chou (Ding Chou to be a little more precise)

2. Small hill at the back with bungalows on top

3. Lower ground infront

4. Directly opposite is a bungalow with a road next to it

5. That road slopes gently from Kun Shen towards the house on the right-hand side

6. The road in front slopes gently from right (Geng You) to the left

7. Sorry, no picture attached.

8. There're 3 mountain ranges in the Kun Shen and Geng You directions

9. The water mouth is at Xun Si

10. The previous owner bought the house in 1990 and ran into financial problem in 2004

11. Present owner bought that house in 2005, renovated it and moved-in in 2006

12. Present owner sufferred spinal stenosis, anterior posterior compression of cervical cord in Sep'06

13. Present owner was admitted to hospital for renal stone problem in Nov'06

14. The whole front portion upstairs is the master bedroom where the previous and present owners sleep

Questions :

1. What could have caused the previous owner to run into financial problem in 2004?

2. What could have caused the present owner to have spinal stenosis, anterior posterior compression of cervical cord in Sep'06? 3. What could have triggered the renal stone problem in Nov'06?

Well, the answer in SanHe will be in part 2

Missing Corner, How To Deal With It?

Many times great architectural design will have to be forgone in order to comply to a certain Feng Shui principle, notably, the 4 points gold principle, or the complete sectors house, making a whole lot square box design almost liked the re visit of the modernist industrial liked building ala Bauhaus, Corbusier and Wright. Perhaps also, Feng Shui is modern in that sense.

What happened if a corner is missing? Assuming SouthWest sector is missing. KUN GUA is missing, meanings that the 2 more associated corners are also weaken namely, KAN North and XUN SouthEast. Weaken KAN sectors foretold stressful situation, if not handled may lead to alcoholism and other water related problems. Whereas weaken XUN means financial overspend and problem related to it.

I took the liberty to quote a real case from another forum: -

" ... I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me: I live in a 3rd floor apartment with a big missing sector: My FU WEI, which is the southwest sector. Every attempt to have a stable, fulfilling, nurturing love life has failed for one reason or another since I've lived here I'm also alone a lot, sometimes by choice, but sometimes just feeling isolated and misused... "

My reply was " ... If really it is a missing KUN sector and you are a GUA 2 person, you really have no affinity with the house. It is not only KUN that is affected but KAN and XUN, as well. Among others, KUN is suppose to be nourished but in your case, hollow and you are driven into a state of sunken isolated depression. Another effect of the KAN. Next you may be intoxicated by over consumption of alcohol, we called this contamination of KUN. Financially you may tend to spend more, getting those stuff that you don't really needs. Even career wise it is not growing.Shift by all means otherwise strengthen your west sector - DUI (temporary measure)..."

One may thought what is DUI, west sector has to do with it? This is another so called, secret formula in Xuan Kong known as Patching the Red, or simply calling backed the loosed sector. DUI and KUN has an early heaven establishment, or simply they are meant to gel together as 1 entity. By strengthening the DUI sector by means of human action, DUI is the 7th star in the pantheon of Xuan Kong star chart, notably famous for piercing effect such as a blade in speech or in the lime light liken to jeweleries. In another note, socializing and mixing with people.

So, I continued, " ...KUN GUA can represents many things, you are right to note abt. woman bread winner, motherly but most important of all GROWTH. It is just not this area alone that is affected but, KAN and XUN are the resultants of the missing KUN, among others financial matters quickly depleting (just dunno how much this advisor charge for the dragons?) and water related health problem liked depression that may lead to other things as well. These resultant area needs to be fortified, strengthen by activating the right QI. So that KUN, which is missing can be drawn back. This may be done in this manner, 2-7. DUI related activities or in the DUI sector. Talk to other people more. Socialized, communicate, open up, cheer up, spend more time in the lime light, activate the 7# (but must be careful), among others these are DUI related matters. Hopefully things will be better of. Cheers..."

Her feedback are as the followings:

"...Wanted to tell you that I'm definitely going to try activating the sector(s) that directly draw the KUN sector back in. Your advice was helpful in every way. Also, I've gotten out and been more social/gregarious over the past month, following a few peoples' advice, and things have really really changed for the better in those previous areas of concern!! Thanks again for your insight!..."

In conclusion, it is not so big deal if one has a missing corner. The award winning Architectural Design can stayed, all that is needed is to compensate by "Patching the Red".

Door Versus Gate

It has been quite disturbing some times, to view comments and statements of mockery of that sort arising from some anonymous people who does not have a clue of what Feng Shui is all about. The fact is the complication arise when the deciding factor of which is to use in the alignment process, especially to Masters whom are in favor of door tilting. Both SanHe and SanYuan uses both the door and the gate, with different purpose and intentions.

Gate is utilized when a community is of the concerns. This is true when we look into the establishment of facing in the case of: -

"... using the structure to establish the facing..."

As deployed by most SanHe masters. It is this gate that establish the in coming Qi mouth, in growth, versus the exiting Qi major Qi mouth at grave, establishing prosperous facing, thus making the trinity of growth, prosperous and grave in the SanHe framework. As facing govern wealth, the gate is the first line of entrance before the main door. A concept similar to the notion of three separation by the bright halls and three harmony as stated above. So, it is not really appropriate to jump into conclusion that tilting of the gate is a Grave Mistake, without first make known the method used.

In the case of SanYuan, have one heard of Castle Gate or Castle Door. Indeed it is the Gate, in question and not the door. The Castle Gate application can only be applied when the formation of the embrace squeeze the water exit, known as locking of the water mouth, with the establishment of facing of the house, in this case, the main door, 45 degree from the current prosperous locked water mouth to conform with the Castle Gate theory.

The notion of Qi Mouth in Xuan Kong again is quite different of that in SanHe. Tapping of Qi is from the Gate to the door. In XK, the emphasis is on the container of Qi, that is to say, the confinement of 4 walls with a main opening, the door. The notion of: -

"... Heavenly Heart Moves, 9 Palaces Altered..."

Could only take position within the 4 walls. That make sense for masters who deployed the DaGua method in tilting the door rather then the gate, so that the Gua of the door matches the Gua of the incoming road with the Gua of the mountain or sitting to be of the same family so that none auspicious matter is out of Gua.

Genuine masters of traditional fengshui must take the effort to explain to the public significant facts such as these, before the entire notion of Feng Shui becomes a mockery arising from pure ignorants and greed's. It will be rather a sad affair when notable feng shui practitioner are labeled tau kei by the more veteran one before the method deployed is being investigated throughoutly.

Practice Note On Xuan Kong Fengshui

Yet another course on Xuan Kong Yang dwelling has been completed. Is there anything exceptionally exciting from the course that the book by any oriental bookshop could not offer, I guess there must be, otherwise it just does not worth the course fee of USD2,000.00. The major item are the definition of 2 sitting star in the flying star chart. Yes, 2 sitting star instead of the normal 1 sitting and 1 facing. Where does this other sitting star comes about, yet the other "facing" star is terminologically called the other sitting star! You read it correctly, indeed. So where is the facing, as the explanation goes that the facing is derived from the facing GUA (hexagram) from the alignment of the Main Door. The conjunction of the both sitting stars, so to speak, that made up the Sitting GUA (hexagram) is made to fly the Loshu path in the 9 palace grid. The others remained status-quo as per the Shen's Classic (Master Shen Xuan Kong School Textbook). These collectively made up the introduction to Xuan Kong Da Gua, secret formula.

Next, the 81 combinations explained in great detail let alone, have to be remembered. Do you need to put these up into memory, let say #1-6 combo, #2-8 combo and so on. A reputable metaphysics researcher has on his web page put it explicitly the meanings of these combinations for free. Just download and memorized. The classic says: "... dragon separated by TWO, GUA derived by THREE portions...", these 3 portions mean the number represents number, GUA images and QI. They meant different things all together. If these were to be compounded into the existing 81 combo, we had 243 combinations to remember. Add the 9 palaces interaction, we had another 2187 combinations. Well that is a lot to remember indeed! The essence is within the 8 GUA images, 10 stems and 12 branches. No secret formula, but the price to pay is USD 4,000.00

It is also timely that an article called, Balancing Theory and Application, has been placed on the Web. Again, my noble question is what is the price to be paid for, in salvaging the interpretation of the classics that has been designed to mislead the uninitiated, or the famous Master Jiang Da Hong's phrase, the will of Heaven must not be disclosed. Pricey indeed, yet we are all chasing for this, so called, secret formula.
