BaZhai TianYuan Fu - 八宅天元賦

BaZhai TianYuan Fu, written by Jiang DaHong may be taken with a pinch of salt. However, it is a script explaining the true mechanism of the "kindergarten" eight mansions. The style of instructions unlike Jiang's will of Heaven must not be disclosed, are rather straight forward. So, unlikely it is his work.

Coincidentally named BaZhai, it is an anti thesis to BaZhai MingJing which is a tapestry of SanHe and SanYuan hybrid. In Jiang's time, BaZhai is already so corrupted. He obviously did not deny the potency of BaZhai. All he did was to question further.

One question was, instead of consuming frightening name such as JueMing, it remains just a label. Any forms of Broken Mountain, as the author quoted is just another star created equally by Heaven. Similarly with the absurdity with an East and West house which is in true nature, is YinYang. In almost all his explanation, he  is talking about such in the forms of layers within the scale of environment, house and rooms. Obviously, this may also be mistakenly taken as a house sitting Gua is an absolute nonsense!

This script has never fails to amuse us in QuanYuan. The author further deliberates on the genesis of BaZhai which is rooted in SanYuan. Period Luck in his outright explanation differ so much from the modern application of FlyingStar, that immediately derailed Sheng's postulation. It inclines toward the theory in Purple White. Where do one think Life Gua is derived from?

The author is an adept to this art. Clarity of structure, Heaven Heart, YinYang, Qi flow, Receiving Qi are predominantly emphasize. As a matter of fact, it is so consistent with the other methods where the basis is YinYang. That is one reason, such "kindergarten" technique will not fail once it is applied correctly. The key to understand such is not in the theory but in the LandForm. The very pre-kindergarten level of RuDi Yan or Entering Earth Eye.

Another maverick idea is Yang FengShui is much superior to Yin FengShui. Pragmatic ways if Grave matter is not an option. Underlaying such is the implication that BaZhai is only applicable within the domains of Yang FengShui. Therefore know the limits.

For QuanYuan's student, you will understand more when you read the script as you have been drilled upon such in the FengShui workshop. We are not at the liberty to explain further in Yifengshui.

Thanks to Terrence Chan, an English translation is now available in PDF. He has continuously benefited the English speaking FengShui communities with his untiring labor in translation and commentaries as a student of Chinese metaphysics and due credits must be given to him. It is so sweet of him categorizing the scripts into sub headings and commentaries, which may also influence our way of thought.

Next time, when one is confronted with BaZhai, remember Jiang's own words, thus act with cautions.

FengShui Basic - 8 Aspirations

In the discourse of Internal FengShui, you will term with 8 aspirations school: there will be sector for academic, wealth, health, romance and so forth. The 8 aspirations school is a modified method. If there is a basis for Life Palace analysis in XuanKong, there must also be the basis of Wealth, Health, Academic, Romance and so forth. These are the specific purpose. The problem is we seldom ask beyond what has been given

While we spoke about specific purpose, the 8 aspirations are the common needs within a household. The question is, have we not achieved the aspirations after investing our hard earned money into learning FengShui? Is it the theory we learnt is faulty or the teacher simply doesn’t bother to teach the correct applications? Such, I leave it for you to contemplate.

Aspiration is personal. Unfortunately, in modern times, money is the yardstick. Predecessors liked Yang - the Savior of the Poor to Lai - the Wanderers in Cotton Robe, live in low profiles and avoid glamor. Maverick Jiang – the Keeper of Heavenly Secrets has to have his disciple sponsor his retirement home. By the same token, if honest masters were to walk their forefather’s path, wouldn’t they too end up in such a situation? Contrary, the “CON-sultants” who will live a posh life from Giorgio to Armani, while promoting FengShui as expansive hobbies.

We came across a place dedicated to a FengShui "extremely low profile" grandmaster of the past. He conceals himself as a beggar and helps the poor to have better lives based on the principles of affinity. One question remains, why wouldn’t he use his knowledge to make himself fabulous? Would a rich client come to him for FengShui advice? Such, I also leave it for you to contemplate.

Look around us today. If one takes FengShui as a career, the good one will end up liked their forefathers - childless, die-young or ultimately, live a pauper. If one takes FengShui to prosper oneself then to help others to achieve the same, it is no longer a career but a charity. Charity must always stem from education. So, why shy away from teaching others the correct path and learn from our past mistakes?

In doubt, affinity is always the guiding principles – that is what QuanYuan is all about.

FengShui Basic - The Alchemy of FengShui

Internal FengShui is modified from FengShui of the external. A grave has only one room but a House has many rooms. Does it translate into many sittings and facings? Each and every room has its own “Flying-Star” chart? Each door leading to the room is the reference point?

Observing SanHe practitioner at work is thought provoking. He spends his time measuring every inch of the walls while a XKDG practitioner may just measure door. Wouldn’t these two diverse methods bore different results?

Chinese nuances may differ in its meaning of “sit” and “seat”. So the question of measuring the sitting of the house, door, et-cetera may eventually differ from that of measuring seating of the house, door, et-cetera. So, when we look at FlyingStar chart, do we consider sitting mountain as “seating” mountain instead? But, most importantly, how do you define a “seating mountain”?

Perhaps seating is confusing, let us investigate facing instead. Searching the internet for methods of establishing facing, one will be amazed that there are many ways to go about it, from the main door as facing to the main facade as facing. What if all the 4 facades are identical facing an empty land? I guess, that will be the nightmare for FlyingStar practitioners.

The onset is fundamentally simple. Each has its own TaiQi. Before that, How to establish the TaiQi spot? How Qi flows? The intricate part, how to receive Qi or acquiring Qi. Both differ depending on techniques. Worse of the lot is to believe that this element grows this element, If I am this element, then it grows me, this is call ShengQi! I call it BullShit!

Internal FengShui is similar to Internal Alchemy. Contemplate such: -

Jing (Essense), Qi (Energy) and Shen (Spirits) affect one another. When it follows the flow it forms the Coporeal Form; when they invert the flow, they generate the Elixir. The flow is the one begets two, two beget three, three beget the ten thousand things…inverting the flow, the ten thousand things return to the three, the three returns to the two and the two returns to the ultimate one. Those who know the way, look after their Coporeal Form, they nourish their corporeal form to refine their Essense, accumulates it and transmuted it into Energy, refining such to merge it into their Spirits to revert to Emptiness.

Now, the question is what is the Jing (Essense), Qi (Energy) and Shen (Spirits) of your living abode?

FengShui Basic - To Move or Not Move

Movement and Stillness, these are the two words that are simple yet complicated.

"It begins with movement; hardly can see a thing, when it comes to stillness, all begin to understand. When one sees stillness as the essential marvel, how may one knows that movement is the foundation?"

A competent practitioner would utilize an unfavorable sector to his advantages. A competent BaZi consultant would also use the negative gods. Beginners’ mistake is to equate the use of Eight Mansions with Flying Stars. These are two methods with different fundamentals. Eight Mansions stem from Early Heaven while Flying Stars stem from Later Heaven. Not surprising if someone were to asked, “What if the sector has a JueMing but yet a favorable 8 wealth star?”

Eight Mansions talked about Gua Qi, elemental relationship. Flying Stars talked about GuaXiang, imagery. The Classics state, “The Gua imagery is established on the basis of their meanings; understand the images and forget the words – the idea is clear of itself. The whole world delusively clings to the imagery; uses GuaQi and rise in levitation.” The elusive meaning of GuaQi remains the key, which many teachers refused to depart.

Evaluating internal spaces, GuaQi remains an important factor. What would be the reference for the interior? Such is called the YinYang boundary. It is the point to distribute the stars. The strangest thing is why must the reference be located at the center? Why must the Wedge be placed at the center? Why must one even smack the 9 Grids forcefully into the house plan as though there is a physical boundary between Qi? What if the physical demarcation of architectural walls differs from the 9 Grids? Why must there be even Grid Vs Wedge? Such reflects the lack of understanding in FengShui fundamentals.

The grid and wedge are simultaneously deployed. The wedge referred to the art of LiPan, establishing the LuoPan. The Grid is an aid of accessing Qi maps. While drawing up Qi maps and establishing the LuoPan became the integral part of a competent practitioner, many were not taught the proper way of doing such. To convince one that Qi moves as LoShu would not guarantee one’s application of eight mansions or FlyingStar is correct. The key is not with LoShu, but to understand how Qi spirals in 3 dimensions and work thereof. Such will work perfectly with whatever given architectural plans.

Only then, would the knowledge of stillness and movement work within the misconstrued Direct/Indirect Spirits, another malicious subject. In summary, Internal FengShui is all about the art of identifying internal Qi maps, activating, receiving or transforming  through the various essentials of a Yang Dwelling.
Saying thus, the success rate is still within its external!

FengShui Basic - Learning To Unlearn

When comes to learning FengShui, one of the most regrettable aspect is to hastily put to test what one has learned and easily discard it when good results are not seen. Sometimes it is always the hype that what is learnt is always better then what has already known. Doubt is always the best teacher as it is the devil and angel in the same package. For instances, internal Qi manipulations will not work if one does not know how to receive or acquire Qi from the greater external. That is why FlyingStar, 8 Mansions and the sorts are just as good theory on paper. A Qi container (house) will always remain empty unless one put something into it. It reminds me of the following sayings: -

“Swallowing saliva and acquiring breath are human actions; only when one knows the Way, one is able to form and transform, just liked in a Ding (tripod) there is no True Seed, liken to use water and fire to boil an empty pot”

So, when one fails to see result, we blame the method that was taught was incorrect and we fails to see that it is the reluctant of the teacher to pass on the “key”, for whatever reasons. It is only upon seeing and watching carefully of how a teacher executes his work in real life audit, would then one able to know the conditions for a method to work. Such will traditionally comes with a bucket load of insults and intimidations from being a coolie to someone holding the teacher’s bag and umbrella. In the modern context, it will be par on material gains which is nothing to be surprised of.

The complexities of residential FengShui is such that if nothing could be done to the Main Door and the Bedroom or even the Kitchen Stove such as a portable stove over a fixed stove so as to get a “perfect” XKDG hexagram, what else could be done? One friend from France suggested that to take a hammer to activate all the good SanSha points and at the same time digging all the relevant parts in the yard to challenge the 5 yellow. Such is not always the way.

Another case in example, a gentleman passed his prime and ended up retrenched with a family to feed. What would be the specific purpose in this case? Food on the table is the priority. Does one go about tilting doors, tables, stoves and maybe beds? This family has not enough money to do the necessary and one strange thing was even the bed was built-into the wall. A simple intervention of changing the joss urn made it possible for the gentlemen age 50 to be employed. Can such be considered simple achievement for a specific purpose?

A competent practitioner never stop learning and practicing. By practicing on the fields he learns something new and unlearns something old. Every case has its own set of challenges and limitations, if it is not carefully dealt with, it may haunt you forever. Yet, when you know that the FengShui methods you used, improve the lives of the many such as healing the sick, putting enough food on the dining table, getting childless couple to finally have children and helping your peers and students to have a decent promotions, the satisfactoriness of such meritorious deeds are far better than creating the number of millionaires.

Perhaps, such wisdom  may appease our doubtful minds: -

"It begins with movement; hardly can see a thing, when it comes to stillness, all begin to understand. When one sees stillness as the essential marvel, how may one knows that movement is the foundation?"

FengShui Basic - Specific Purpose In Generic

It is very common for householders to suggest generic needs such as the well-being of the family while residing in the house. I would say it is generally accepted norms to prioritize well-being as the first criteria in residential FengShui. However, the notion of well-being is far too generic and it became the burden to the practitioner of not defining such in the onset of their audits. So, as a prudent measure, seasoned practitioners would qualify further assuming: -

1. Family Harmony ranks priority
2. Health Improvement for the Elderly
3. Wealth opportunity for the Bread Winner
4. Academic achievement for the school going children

These became the so called “specific purpose” which may have been silent in the pretext of “good health and good wealth” generic needs. Saying thus nothing is deemed to have been cast in stone, as this is a living art, best demonstrated by the following example.

We audited a small family where the gentleman is living with his mum while his dad had passed away. So, we only have 2 variables to deal with, one, the bread earner and two, the elderly mother. The gentleman is single and working in a multinational company. Needless to say, opportunity for promotions and meeting the opposite sexes would automatically be the priority while for his mum, health improvement ranks supreme. At this juncture, we are able to narrow down to a specific purpose and with very simple alteration using the so called “kindergarten” 8 mansions, he was promoted. We also observed there is a better change in his attitude towards other which results in him attracting the opposite sexes. His mother, on the other hand, has less sleepless night and less worry. We could not believe such a simple method would bring about good results and more importantly his dad has a permanent place within his blessed home. When identifying water mouth became difficult, use Heaven Qi approach, as this art is a living art.

Residential FengShui is more challenging in that forms as compared to Commercial FengShui, where the bottom line is profitability. As we grew wiser in our practices, we noticed that a good practitioner is able to intervene in any given situation. He does not run away when situation does not present upon him an ideal situation such as what if the Killing Forces in the area is overly strong? Move away? What if he cannot afford to do so? What will be the better alternatives? Drop the case and ask him to look for other practitioners instead?

Any competent practitioners would have made mistake. More importantly, he must be humble enough to learn from it. The Chinese Ideal of first Destiny, second Luck, third FengShui, fourth Meritorious Deed and fifth Education had been greatly misunderstood. For example, Education is a reserved privilege for the male gender in the aristocratic Chinese community. Does it means to say, female is devoid a chance to improve on their Destinies, for not being given the opportunity for education? No, education in the simple Chinese nuance means learning from one’s mistake and takes step to improve oneself. This is the very basis of doing meritorious deed to oneself and others will naturally comes its way.

“The cosmos lies in one’s hand, the ten thousand transformations are born from oneself.”

Feng Shui Architect?

I Quote:

"No hill in line. No tree in front. No john above. No wet beneath.

No mirrored hall or bush too tall, no stove with sleep or land too deep No street too high or wall you'll die, no number four, no squared off door No poisoned corner corner corner corner - where's that f@#'ing mirror

No stop. Look. Go. No door face door.
No decisions without my secret compass. No evil. No doubt. No end.

No.

Fengshui. Somehow, the masters forget about smell, sound and touch. Ask one and bewilderment will never have looked so complete; it is all about the seen and the no-that-can't-be-done. They forget about exceptions to the no because their books only speak of rules, not when and how they can be broken.

Fengshui. The subversive art of sight, smell, taste, touch, sound and Yes. - Architect of Small Projects. "

This is the common gesture coming from most Architects, in the their professional lifetime of meeting the mysterious species called FengShui Masters.
I believed, it is high time for FengShui master to study Architecture...

5 Yellow Killing Forces

We had encountered CASES with the 5 Yellow violations. Yet, we had never really encountered and document the process of violating 5 Yellow. Here is something interesting.

Occasionally, we served pro-Bono FengShui to some lower income family. A month after the rectifications, the FengShui of this family improves tremendously and the bread winner had bonuses to renovate their house, their children do well in school and health is not an issue to them.

With readily money available and for whatever reasons, this family had selected XinMao year to enlarge their kitchen, where the annual 5 Yellow sits. This is a typical East Sitting House with main door facing west and a ground breaking in the East sector would automatically violate 5 Yellow.

Needless to say, it was done without our consultation and we learnt that the date was selected by the assistance of a medium. Thus, 2 points of interest as one, there will be foreseeable mishaps readily to happen for the remaining months before crossing over to RenChen year or two, there is absolutely nothing happen.

If violation of 5 Yellow brings mishap, that is understandable. Here, benefiting from a pro-Bono FengShui effects may not necessary bring the desire end results, especially true when one opted to listen to others’ advises.

If nothing happen, then we need to relook into 5 Yellow again. Is our theory wrong or the understanding of 5 Yellow violation is grossly misunderstood. Perhaps, spiritual interventions may subdue the effect of 5 Yellow through Karmic interference.

Whichever it is only time would tell …

FlyingStar Basic - 57

Anonymous wrote:

9,5 at Dui palace or 5,7 at Li palace will make it more permanent rite?

In short, he is talking about #5-9 and #5-7 combinations either in the 7 palace or the 9 palace in the following conjunctions of #9-5-7. It arises from the article XuanKong Classics. I am not sure what permanent which he refers to but I guess which combination would bring permanent illness.

While lets investigate what others had to say, I quote Hung's commentary:

"#7 represents young girl, prostitute. #9 represents beauty, both female stars.Total immersion in Sex and decadence. #5 represent poison. Imagery... is not hard to fathom. Do note...negative prediction requires negative land form trigger... - page 18 Ode to Flying Star"

Technically speaking, #5-9 is better then #5-7 in the context of Dui palace compared to Li palace. On such, #5-7 would have a longer effects. However, this is only one way of looking at the star conjunctions.

Coincidentally, I came across one restaurant in particular. The business was so-so and it was established by a company which sell jewelry mixed with the new-age metaphysics visionary numbers. So naturally, numbers speak for itself, it has a huge 57 hung on the facade. So, does it means to say, who ever visit the restaurant either wearing Red or in the month where the monthly 9 arrive, will definitely contracted STD???

Think again...

SanYuan Food Chain

Oh my God!

Flying Star is at the bottom of the “food chain”!  Joke aside; let us contemplate a little…

During the Big Sister era, 8 Mansions was the known basic of the basic FengShui taught in kindergarten. In those days, it was the easiest  method. So simple that practitioners graduated to advice couples of different Gua to sleep separately. 8 Mansions were actually at the bottom of the “food chain”.

Not satisfied, they opted to primary level – Flying Star. Those days, Hoo-Ha of period 8 was as staggering as the Y2K. Some Chinese literati grandmasters started off very much earlier in the 70’s HongKong where huge classes were organized.

Period 8 passed by and NOTHING happened. So, FlyingStar must have been a flaw! They enrolled into LiuFa. Tan’s School is not the one and only. Read our FengShui history. LiuFa is still out of bound reserved to the elitist Daoist cult.

Then, some opted to do “A” level instead. Entry into University of FengShui takes up 2 routes, Pre-U Matriculation  - XKDG and “A” level - SanYuan LongMen BaJu LMBDJ. Surprising, it had never crossed their mind is that - XKDG is actually kindergarten stuff - the so called 8 Mansions!

What???

SanYuan is NOT XuanKong. XuanKong is only a very small subset, thus it is the most confused system among the arts of SanYuan. Cloaked in secrecy, a complete system must contain prediction, application and activation. Strangely, XuanKong that we knew of today, is almost a standalone system with different and conflicting fundamentals.

SanYuan is the continuation of SanHe. The most valuable part of SanYuan is in its application of water method.
On and off there will be mysterious standalone method in the market. While XieZi is almost forgotten, another emerged in the light of the revival of LianShan GuiChang Gua 连山归藏卦. Can we call it by another name such as SanYuan DaGua?

FengShui Basic - YinYang of The SanYuan 24 Mountains

… After all the heavy weights, let us come back to FengShui 101.

There are a few good books in English explaining about LuoPan, including the Compendium. However, it never dwell deep into the origin of YinYang of the 24 mountain plate of the so called, SanYuan LuoPan. It only prescribed that 24 mountain is further categorized into Heaven, Man and Earth subsector or Yuan Dragon in the manner of Yin-Yang-Yang or Yang-Yin-Yin configurations. Thereafter… nothing mentioned.

To the ONE RING masters, especially from the Flying Star School, these Yin-Yang-Yang or Yang-Yang-Yin configurations are how the 9 stars “fly” forward or backward in the LoShu chart. Beyond that… nothing mentioned.

So, before one worries about 明师盘线, loosely translated as Great Master’s LuoPan Line, emmm… what say if one try to find out, why do of the so called, SanYuan LuoPan has the YinYang configuration such as this?

FengShui Basic - XuanKong Classics

The celebrated poem of XuanKong comes in 4 components as the following: -

1. Purple White Script (紫白诀)
2. Ode to Mysticism (玄机赋)
3. Ode to Flying Stars (飞星赋)
4. Secrets of XuanKong (玄空秘旨)

Hung HinCheong has written a series of marvelous translation on these 4 classics and is now available in the market. The notable gist of these translations was the appended commentary which is the summarized commentaries from the various Chinese sources available. Therefore, it is some sort of mass market knowledge available for consumption. The caveat is how reliable is this information as pertaining to true application of XuanKong?

Take for instance, Purple White Script (紫白诀) which believed to have been the foundation of Flying Star. Shen JuRen 沈竹礽 school of thought uses only the Lower Scroll. Tan YangWu denounces Flying Star outright in favor of LiuFa 六法. Yet, not many people actually look at Kong ZhaoSu 孔昭苏 school of thought for an alternative.

Ode to Mysticism (玄机赋) and Ode to Flying Stars (飞星赋) were written with an 8 mansion BaZhai (八宅) undertones, concealed as a Flying Star classic. So, misinterpretations are common.

For example, Ode to Flying Stars (飞星赋) script 15: If one get infected by disease at a brothel, it is only because 7 and right assistant (9) are joined by Yellow (5); immediately we ought to think it is 7-9 with the monthly 5 visiting which will caused STD. How often would one get 7-9-5 with all the visiting annual, monthly and daily stars keep changing? This passage is only talking about 5 Ghosts in 8 mansions 八宅.

There is really no rush about dwelling in theoretical FengShui such as these when the fundamental is missing. Ultimately, it is the fundamental that is working and while we can argued till the cow goes home, we learnt very little of how to receive ShengQi.

FengShui Basic - Entering Earth Eye (入地眼)

Almost fainted! One chap from Penang emailed and give an outright pop-quiz, asking – where is the moosti-spot? The picture has been reproduce in graphical manner, to illustrate the virtual veins from the series of humps some called Dragon. Honestly, such pop-quiz like this nature really belittle the intelligent of the author of RuDi Yan 入地眼 or Entering Earth Eye, believed to have been written by GuTuo of the Zhou Dynasty. By the way, why all the sudden so much interest has been garnered on this single classic? Is it because of QuanYuan's syllabus?

This classics lay out the fundamental of locating LongXue 龙穴, which some believed to have been as small as 3 feet by 3 feet, where the coffin needs to be buried vertically, is uttered rubbish. This is called, Die Standing! Some market it, liked nobody business, other holds it so sacredly that they were given specific instructions as to how many LongXue 龙穴 can they dot in their entire life. It is even coded in their name, for example Mao ZiDong’s FengShui master  不过五, where 5 is the limit.  Anyway, if one really waits for the so called LongXue 龙穴 to be buried 6 feet under, well just wait. There are always better alternative.

Contradict to many believes, most vibrant cities liked Bangkok, Rio and New York are flourishing in coastal, flat and probably what is significantly known as Spiral City or area surrounded by mountains. Take a good look at Rio, for example. The slums are actually dotting the mountains. Wonders why are all those "Dragon Spots" seem to breakdown or probably it will not work in the other side of the Pacific?

Entering Earth Eye does not warrant one to climb mountain everyday, in this modern context, just to look for spot. Unlike rural area, urban context is a different cup of tea. GPS and GOOGLE are new technologies that ease determination of a FengShui structure much-much easier compared to our forefather's era.

Furthermore, this very town would not have flourished if the LongXue 龙穴 is only nestled around the “moosti” spot? So, it cannot be just a spot right? If one understand the essence of RuDi Yan 入地眼, you are able to make do with receiving ShengQi everywhere. You do not need a 3 feet by 3 feet spot to Die Standing.

Wise up!

FengShui Basic - The Art of Receiving Yin (收山出煞) 2

LiQi 理氣 must conform to forms 形勢 for things to work. Alongside with some observations, those tilted doors which work are actually the one which conforms to land form. However, how do one know that it is the forms 形勢 that is working all these while and not LiQi 理氣, as forms never lie, formula not necessary tells the truth. It is therefore, prudent to note that door tilting is not the only answer to 收山出煞.

Another form of 收山出煞, came from SanYuan LungMen BaDa Ju, 龍門八大局 or their SanHe version called QianKun GuoBao, 乾坤國寶. Before these schools ever attempt to 收山出煞, they must first define the confluence of two rivers from the Heaven Gua not breaking the Earth Gua structure. If it ever conforms to the 8 structures 八大局, they will attempt to receive Yin 收山 otherwise they will alter their facing to rid themselves from the 8 Killing Waters and the 8 Killing Mountains. These schools also derived a Middle Heaven Gua 中天卦, sometimes also referring to as Star Robbery, having to deal with such is their version of pushing Sha 出煞. Vividly remember a fellow Penang master, having to joke that as though these methods teach you to pull your pants down before you fart, in their attempt to play with the Heaven and Earth Gua. Very thought provoking and entertaining indeed. Theoretical wise, it makes sense. Practical wise, some of the so called 8 structures 八大局 contradict landform principles. So, their versions of 收山出煞 is again good on theory, faulty in application.

YangGong method 楊公法 needs little introduction. Calling the art of receiving Yin and pushing Sha, 收山出煞 by another name, XiaoSha NaShui 消砂纳水, this SanHe version uses a combination of dependent theories to evaluate the environment, layer by layer of YinYang to determine the so called Pure YinYang 純陰陽. So, contradictory that absolute YinYang would not grow, so how possible is it to receive ShengQi? Here is where the “great misunderstanding” comes in. XiaoSha NaShui 消砂纳水 is entirely different from ShouShan ChuSha 收山出煞. One is talking about NaShui 纳水 the other is talking about ShouShan 收山. The operative word is what is the use of ShouShan 收山? Other than that is lineage secret – out of bound.

The much proven method of 收山出煞, is within its landform with regards to its Qi mouth receiving Qi from the Bright Hall. Receiving Yin 收山, is to sink in and 出煞 is to protrude. Sunken or protrude doesn’t automatically means one is able to receive or retain ShengQi. The idea of sunken when the Qi flow is weak or Yin and to protrude to catch Qi in the wide open space or strong flowing Qi or Yang Qi may also be misleading. This is often a beginner’s mistake. There are many more layers of YinYang which this very method of 收山出煞 needs to gel with, in order to see results. YinYang is only the very first layer to begin with.

TianYu Jing 天玉經 has this to say,

汝今傳得地中仙,玄空妙难言,翻天倒地更玄玄,大卦不易傳。
更有收山出煞诀,亦兼为汝说。相逢大地能几人,各个是知心,
若还求地不种德,稳口深藏舌。

Translated as - now you have passed down teachings to obtain earth immortality, XuanKong subtlety is difficult to describe. Transforming Heaven changing Earth furthermore very mysterious, DaGua difficult to pass down. Furthermore, have receiving Yin pushing Sha methodology, similar, together have you persuaded. Meet great earth, can how many person be? Everyone does care. If still look for earth without cultivating virtues, conceal mouth deeply hide tongue.

This may be a reason, why many teachers are not willing to teach this very fundamental knowledge of FengShui and all that can be prescribed are the tons of theory which if often nice on paper, difficult in application.

One FengShui enthusiast from Penang asked, why are you not teaching FlyingStar? The answer to her is obvious; FlyingStar can easily be read off from books. Others liked receiving Yin and pushing Sha, 收山出煞 is priceless. That is one reason, Establishing Heaven Heart (天心十道) and Arranging YinYang (阴阳排龙) is in our syllabus for the beginners.

FengShui Basic - The Art of Receiving Yin (收山出煞) 1

The art of receiving Yin and pushing Sha, 收山出煞, has many interpretations. Among all definitions, XieZi, 些子, is one of the lesser known. Some define Shan, 山, as mountain while others define it as Yin, static, solidify Qi or stillness. This art is to enable one to turn Yin into Yang and vice-versa.

Many assumed, WuChang, 無常, lineage practiced 收山出煞, according to the displacing YinYang principles. It has to do with 山上龙神不下水,水里龙神不上山, Dragon Mountain God doesn’t dive; Dragon Water God doesn’t climb. 收山, means prosperous mountain stars matching higher ground, while prosperous water stars matching lower ground. 出煞, is to do the reverse. Same token, a mountain god will be drowned and a water god will be dead thirsty, when their YinYang is displaced. It assumed, Dragon God 龙神 meant the 9 stars. The malignant star will be harmless when their YinYang is displaced. One question is does the term Dragon God, 龙神 really refers to the 9 stars?

Adding to the fallacy, Sheng 沈氏玄空學, gives additives to 收山出煞, by introducing the sitting and facing stars. It assumed that sitting star is mountain star and facing star is water star. That is where it is often mixed up between the need to LiPan or to GePan. Establishing sitting and facing stars became cumbersome. If someone tells you that the same row of shops has a different sitting and facing because they measure it by reference to the door. Sheng’s method on 收山出煞 is deemed to work only if it falls within its “structure” which is one reason why Flying Star sometimes, doesn’t work.

Another reason for 收山出煞 comes from SanYuan point of view. It is called the principle of Direct and Indirect, 零正. Any violation to this principle would not see results in the application of SanYuan. The idea of 零正 comes from Prosperous Qi arriving at the un-prosperous sector while depleting Qi is revitalized by the prosperous sector. It means to say, 8 timely Star will see Northeast sector prosperous 正神. It prefers to receive Yin 收山. Southwest, would be untimely 零神 and prefers to push Sha 出煞 to accumulate water. In many instances, violation of Direct and Indirect Spirits, 零正 also see positive results in many real life cases.

The LiuFa 六法 offers a different perspective by introducing the idea of JingLung or Golden Dragon 金龍 as an annotation to the 5 yellow in their manipulation of the LoShu chart, by means of LoShu path flight based on the YinYang Gua, to explain why in the many instances violation of 零正 also see positive results. However, this theory is force-fitting, as LoShu only leans forward as time only travels forward and not backward, unless space time dimension is bent.

Another novel idea of 收山出煞 came from DaGua 大卦. One advocated that DaGua 大卦 is the body, FlyingStar 飞星 is the application owing to the former has the basis in the Early Heaven and the later has the basis in the Later Heaven. One uses DaGua to match LongShan XiangShui 龍山向水 to achieve YiGua ChunQing 一卦純清 and matching FlyingStar chart to acquire the timely purple white. Therefore, door tilting became the upmost important method. Once the door tilt, both the FlyingStar and the Hexagram altered. It introduced yet another caveat known as the Out of Gua and JingFang’s 京房 Hexagram to look ever more convincing. This is another form of 收山出煞, where 收山 by having in-Gua or using the same family Hexagram and 出煞 by putting one out of Gua or different family Hexagram. If this theory works, then all the tilted doors must be enjoying bountiful business but yet, real case studies revealed otherwise. The response to critics is that, most of these tilted doors do not conform to landform, therefore, it doesn’t work.

FengShui Basic - Lessons From Sweet Affairs

Year back when we observed the fallacy of FlyingStar be it reformed or otherwise, when an observation was put up to compare 2 eatery shops side by side having the same facing and sitting. See Bright Hall - A Case Between Two Restaurants. The chicken rise shop is making good business while the other shop with all sorts of new age “voodoo” FengShui has to close down and change name to a Thai restaurant. Yet, until today, business is far from satisfactory.

In the same vicinity, one street has been transformed into Dessert Street selling all kinds of Taiwanese Desserts and delicacies. Of all the 8 shops, 2 stood out to be making money with patron queuing up just to get a seat. Unlike the earlier case, these outlets are entirely opposite each other, thus they have the opposite sitting and facing.

Assuming that the theory of FlyingStar be it reformed or otherwise, holds water, one successful shop would have capitalized on the prosperous facing or sitting while the other don’t. Yet, both are equivalent successful. So, it draws down to one conclusion. It is not about sitting and facing. FlyingStar be it reformed or otherwise doesn’t work!

Close scrutiny revealed the secrets are within its YinYang structures, some called it XieZi. The formations of XieZi have been incorporated in the design of the outlets, as both coincidently, shared the same interior design with different flavors and themes. More analysis is in the QuanYuan case study.

Instead of learning FlyingStar in whatever forms which sound bombastic that sounds good only in theory and awkward in application, FengShui lessons should start from the groundwork of observing YinYang, stipulated by Entering Earth Eye 入地眼. Forget about the other dimensions such as “voodoo” and understand well the working mechanism of the 5 elements, for whichever moves, one will be stationary.

Saying such, Door Tilting has never been a main criterion of these successful outlets.

FengShui Basic - Another New Breed of XieZi?

The hype and the bandwagon of XieZi is finally over?  A visit to WanLi, Singapore, revealed that the late grandmaster Zeng's book is out of print. Even the last copy, which was extremely seasoned, was sold out. None of these literature speak about XieZi, unfortunately. Yet, it was capitalized by others for profiteering. As none knew anything about XieZi -  it always remains a novelty.

The grandmaster families are already cash rich, selling rich man toys in China. XieZi is something of the past. Reliable sources revealed, XieZi is a technique in most of the genuine FengShui method. Blatantly put it - the 2 dots of the 2 slices. Assuming, correctly disguised XieZi as CiEr Zi - Arrival of the Two Zi(s).

So, what is Zi?

Well, you see, Zi can also mean the first branch of DhiZi. ErZi meaning two Zi(s). BaZi connoisseur will reckon that there are the early and the late Zi. So, if a FengShui techniques that are so rooted in ErZi, then the "Arrival" means it is a date selection techniques disguised as FengShui technique.

Furthermore, any teacher that does not teach the applications of the 2 dots of the 2 slices, is like telling you about car but does not teach you how to drive one. Very pity. While some resort to voodoo, others resort to build upon the missing link with some things else.

Well, lately this is the "new" hybrid of XieZi, just called Super-string :-

Super-string enable one to prolong one's good luck, even though it expires. All you need, is to understand ones BaZi and integrate it with Super-string FengShui. There is no further coursework. Only KouJue (oral secret) will be given inclusive of personalized FengShui placement, specialized date selections, method to repeat ones luck pillar, borrow future luck to current use and forming structures to remedy human luck with the price tag of SGD 15,000.00.

SGD 15,000.00 is a small sum in return of being a millionaire. Well, now we knew there is another millionaire factory in a making. Soon everyone would be rich! Just before ones become another suckers, enter into an agreement for a guarantee in ROI, just to see who has the real stuff!

It is already a norm these days for FengShui masters to prescribe warranty. Any gutsy takers? Let us know...

Yup, by the way to answer some query, the FengShui workshop is limited by invitation only. Watch out this SPACE for details

FengShui Basic - Locating A Succesful Retail Outlet

In a series of articles to come, we shall discuss about the fundamental of FengShui as a per-cursor to our maiden workshop on FengShui. Lets look at the simple unsophisticated ways of selecting a successful retail outlet...

Locating a successful retail outlet is an art. Entering Earth Eye 入地眼 stipulates the characteristic of Qi. Those who misunderstood such thought that water placements are the only answer.  By so doing what is generally known as water lizards as though they are water dragons were created. Pity that they also could not differentiate between jade belt and sickle formations. At the end, one succumb to other sorts of voodoo methods to make things work.

Is this FengShui?

Not really. They are magician by professions.

One of the pet techniques in locating successful outlets is to receive incoming Qi through a vertical Qi map. Yet both cases presented herein showed otherwise.

One successful Japanese outlet with patrons queue up just to grab a chair while the other well known "Gui LingGao" stall vacant for the lack of patron. Both are receiving prosperous incoming Qi

Something must be really wrong, isn't it?

There are fundamental basic knowledge a FengShui practitioner must have devoid of the hocus-pocus stuff. QuanYuan has included such in the maiden FengShui workshop earmarked for November.
